Artius Glass News/Sales Letter May 2026

Hi All

This month sees a return to an event which we only normally only engage in
once a year in January with ‘sale’ items.

However time has come to offer you some which don’t seem to have set the
world on fire at our fairs or on our newly refurbished web site albeit that they
are some very special ‘one offs’ (as are all items of Studio Art glass as they
cannot be churned out of a reproducing machine overnight in an identical
fashion!.)

See below!

Other news is a bit thin on the ground except to say that we have a steady
number of fairs also listed below.

The most prestigious of all the fairs we attend (The National Glass Fair held at
the National Motor Museum, Gaydon) has come and gone and what a joy to
behold with a fabulous array of some of the country’s best dealers and stock to
match. Well attended with purchases to match plus banter accordingly with
some very special enthusiasts. Sincere thanks to all those who attended.

Another first in terms of process by Tim, called Stratum, designed to emulate the rock folds of the cliffs along the Jurassic Coast of Dorset. A truly unique technique, both technically innovative and too complex to describe here. But take my word for it – it is something special!

A good, substantial piece, but we are not selling it by the pound! Why it has not sold, I shall never understand.

Description: Pink & White Lollipop vase

Size: 6.25” hi x 4.5”wide (16cm x 15.5cm.)

in existence)
Condition : Perfect
Price: WAS £199.00. NOW £100. FREE P&P. No further disc. (Cameo)

And now for something completely different! A hand-carved reverse cameo piece by Tim, also a one-off. A design never repeated. Tim often spends hours burning the midnight oil, cameo carving his special designs simply to satisfy his unique artistic bent. With an unusual frosted finish. Again, see my comment at the end of the above description.

Made in a similar design to some of the studio’s very early pieces, with the title of ‘Side Stripe’ for obvious reasons. Originally designed and made by the Master, Michael Harris. Hence, made for the celebration of the studio’s 50th anniversary in 2023.

Beautiful item in the T.H. unique process called Stratum. See above item 1 for a full process description, but in this case it is multi-coloured. In case I hadn’t mentioned it before, as with all I.O.W.S.G. perfume bottles, it has a ground-in, fully airtight stopper to prevent the evaporation of perfume.

Many of you may not know that in the dim distant past I was the marketing
agent for one Paul Miller who became Langham Glass with his partner Ronnie
Stennett Wilson a name well worth Googling for interest. We still now carry a
good selection of Paul’s wonderful interpretations of all kinds of both domestic,
stylised and wild animals which has now given Paul the reputation of this
country’s finest glass animal maker. We have now built up a good stock of such
which are shown on our website. Take a look if you are an animal lover.
www.ArtiusGlass.co.uk

But in the meantime we have now listed some of the more unusual ones for
sale.

One of the wild animal interpretation of a resting fawn by Paul Miller. Slightly earlier than most of our items from this very accomplished glass animal maker as it is not signed but does have the factory acid etched mark oF ‘Langham England’. However no doubt that it was from the hand of this Master glass maker. You have my word.

Description: Resting Fawn
Maker: Paul Miller
Size: 4.75″ long × 4″ high (12cm × 10cm)
Date: c.2000
Marks: Acid etched “Langham England”
Condition: Perfect
Price: £69.00 less 12.5% p.c.g. disc. FREE P&P.

Occasionally Paul made subjects other than British birds, and this is one such example. Consequently, we can assume that this is a scarce piece for that reason. Original Red Cardinals come from Kentucky, USA. Absolute little beauties. This one is complete with its original box.

Description: Red Cardinal Bird
Maker: Paul Miller
Size: 6.5″ long × 5.75″ high (16.5cm × 12cm)
Date: c.2000
Marks: Acid etched “Langham England”, plus Langham & Union Jack sticker
Condition: Perfect
Price: £55.00 less 12.5% p.c.g. disc. FREE P&P.

Stylised Standing Duck. Unusual in that it is a blown hollow item, whereas most of Paul’s pieces are solid.

Having pretty close to run out of real bird interpretations, he is producing some stylised / artistic characters for those collectors who want “something different”. Others are available from our website, Artius Glass – Other Studios.

That’s all folks!

As ever, our very best regards,

Ron & Ann
